Get Out Wednesday: Nada Surf at the Triple Door

nadasurfweb.JPGWe're as guilty as anyone else when it comes to not knowing that Nada Surf has been living a second life of sorts -- a new life, all their own, long after "Popular," the satirical high-school anthem that ruled MTV circa 1996.

Nada Surf has spent the past decade recording, touring and reestablishing themselves with the North American Audience. It's a cool story, we think and not one you often hear. Band gets major label deal. Releases hit single with flashy video. MTV darlings. Hit radio sweethearts. Next album, label says there's "no single." Not like "Popular." Things fall apart. Label drops the band. Band goes on to release four critically acclaimed albums practically on their own. Well done, we say. Well done.

Lucky, the group's fifth LP will be released February 5th in the U.S. Touring in support of the new album, Nada Surf will play The Triple Door this Wednesday, January 30th. This special, all acoustic set is SOLD OUT, but cross your fingers and keep checking. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Note that if you can't make it into the Triple Door this Wednesday, you've got another opportunity, as Nada Surf play the Showbox at the Market on March 28th.

Stream Lucky in its entirety via MySpace (until early February).
