This Seattlest had some family visiting this weekend and felt it was his duty to show them some of his favorite beer spots in town, even if they could probably care less. There were quite a few beers of note that were on tap and should still be around. We also found a few bottles of Lost Abbey Judgement Day at Esquin Wine this weekend. We didn't realize the Seattle market was getting this beer, but we can't wait to pop one open this week.
Brouwer's - They had the fantastic Jaywalker Russian Imperial Stout from Walking Man Brewery on Sunday. This is a big, 12% stout that drinks fairly smooth and could go to battle with The Abyss any day. Well worth the trip to Brouwer's by itself, if you have never tried it. They also had the Snoqualmie Falls Serendipity IPA, Sierra Nevada Torpedo (pretty much the same as Celebration; dry-hopped differently) and plenty of other local specialties to keep you interested.
Uber Tavern - Uber just tapped a keg of The Abyss. If that isn't enough of a reason to visit, they also have a keg of Flyer's "Flyer Tuck" Belgian Strong Golden Ale, Alaskan Big Nugget Barleywine, and Ommegang Brewery's Ommegeddon.
The Collins Pub - As of Monday night, they have a keg of Rogue Charlie 1981, a bitter Strong Ale named after brewing great Charlie Papazian. They also had the Hale's Coconut Porter and The Abyss on their tap list, but they were not pouring yet. I'd guess you will find them sometime this week though. Both are worth a visit. And please, someone drink the Eric's Ale that's been on tap there for about six months now. It's a wonderful, Belgian style sour peach beer from New Belgium that we just can't drink any more of but doesn't seem to go away at Collins. They also had the Walking Man Strider Pale Ale, Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine, Speakeasy Double Daddy Imperial IPA and the always wonderful Boundary Bay IPA.
Big Time Brewery - They have a new addition of their Hopfest IPA, which is always brewed with a different, single hop strain to showcase the herb. This time it is the Liberty Hop, which seems to be an aroma hop often used in Pils and lighter beers. They also had the "Maine Thing" or "East Coast Thing", which is a Pale Ale collaboration between Bill Jenkins (current brewer at Big Time) and Kevin Watson (Brewer at Stone Coast in Maine; formerly of Far West in Redmond). They also have the fantastic Lift Ticket Winter Ale (which, for Big Time, means IPA).

Isabella Rossellini Brings Green Porno to Benaroya

Just want to say your beer posts are one of my favorite parts of this blog! I bought a bottle of The Abyss at Whole Foods after you blogged about it (had to get them to get it from the back room for me) and it was probably the best stout I've ever had. Also picked up a Lost Abbey that's waiting for me at home.
Keep up the local beer news!
Glad you are enjoying...and that is great you got some Abyss!
