Both the P-I and TNT report that Mike Holmgren will return as coach of the Seahawks.
The P-I's Clare Farnsworth writes that "a source close to the situation" confirms that Holmgren will return.
We say hooray! Holmgren is by far the most successful coach in team history. There are a few things we wish he'd do better, but when it comes to the big stuff--having the respect of his players, keeping his team motivated, and, most importantly, winning football games, Holmgren gets it right.

McGinn is Mayor

It's hard to bash Holmgren given the big picture mediocrity of Seattle Pro sports. He got us to a SuperBowl which I never thought I'd live to see.
That being said, this current team wasn't talented enough to win playing the conservative style that he prefers.
Until we shore up our line, we can't expect to run on 3rd and short against a stacked box and expect to pick up a first down.
The Hawks are known for speed on defense so lets utilize that and bring the rush (Petersen, Tatupu and the occasional CB) and not give opposing QBs all day to pick us apart. (Note the Packers didn't blitz ELi and he actually looked okay).
