Seattlest at Large: MacWorld San Francisco

Air-mobile.jpgSince there's a "Blogger Lounge" here at MacWorld, we figured we'd use it. What the hell.

So we're at MacWorld and if you have a computer and/or are capable of reading, you've probably heard that Apple is pushing even more shiny things on the world and some of those shiny new things were announced on Tuesday. We didn't attend the keynote, but friends of ours who did described it as Oprah for geeks; with all the squealing going on during Jobs' speech, you'd think he was giving everyone gourmet chocolates and a car per person.

There was some talk about new AppleTVs, renting movies from iTunes (and watching them on your AppleTV), and some other shit. But really, what matters is the Macbook Air. We'll confess: Want. One. Less than 3 lbs, thin as a dime with a gorgeous screen, full keyboard, and a touchpad that does all the cool shit that only iPhones used to do (pinching to zoom, multiple-finger swiping to navigate through pics or music files). Are we all bunched up about it not having an optical drive? Not really. We could get sucked into buying the Time Capsule (we do need to buy a new external drive for backups anyhow), but the Remote Disc functionality means we can just use an existing computer's drive if we ever need one. Dammit, that's smart.

Totally random highlight of the conference? Devo.
