Seahawks (11-6) vs. Cooking (Kielbasa and Cheese)

This fall we are combining our love of the football and our dream of learning to cook. On Sunday morning, following a trip to a local farmer's market/major supermarket chain, we will be preparing a meal from the city of the Seahawks opponent. Then at halftime we will throw our badly burned hands in the air and make hot dogs.

covers.jpgThere may not be a better image in all of football then Packer fans
standing outside Lambeau Field grilling sausages in the freezing cold. Some are shirtless, some are rosy-cheeked, and all are overweight.

Before the big Hawks/Packers playoff game on Saturday, we will be re-creating this scene in our backyard.

Well, not us. We will be in a warmer locale looking for Seahawks fans (or anyone who took the blue and green in a three-team parlay) to stand near.

Seattlest Seth will be leading our friends in this literal sausage fest. Specifically, he'll be feasting on Kielbasa.

Since the game is in Wisconsin, we will, of course, have cheese on hand.

They are pretty serious about their curdy goodness over there. Check out these comments on this awesome California Cheese commercial, which also sums up the differences between living in the Midwest and the Golden State.

We have found a recipe that combines sausages and cheese. First you grill the kielbasa, then slice it down the middle, add some cheese, and grill it some more. Then add onions and sauce. Ideally we would like to add the secret sauce that everyone who went to games at Milwaukee's County Stadium raved about.

However, it truly is a secret; we can't find a recipe for the stuff anywhere, only that it appeared to be barbecue-sauce-based. It should be a delicious afternoon in chilly Green Bay Lake.

Once the tailgating ends and the game starts, Seattlest's official housemate Jason, who will probably be handling most of the cooking, has a great idea to keep the snacks coming.

"I'm moving our propane grill into the basement. That way our deaths during the Seahawks' defeat will be relatively painless."

They'll report back on Monday, and if you think you're so fucking great why not try and make the stuff as well. Then we can all compare notes as our neighbors stare at us disapprovingly.

I can't believe you're not making deep-fried cheese curds.
