Great Bet for the Loser

Wager.jpgOn Saturday we will be in a land where betting on sports is not only legal, they reward you with free drinks for doing so. We'll be placing some money on the Seahawks, with the understanding that if they lose we are out both happiness and money.

Losing bets never has a reward, except in the case of the chefs of Lambeau and Qwest Field.

Wouldn’t you know that Levy Restaurants is in charge of the catering for both venues, and they have set up a wager between the groups.

If the Seahawks win then the Lambeau chefs will be forced to eat fresh salmon BLTs, and if the Packers win their Seattle counterparts will have to endure the humiliation of eating brats topped with sauerkraut and grilled onions, served with fresh cheese curds.

So their punishment is eating a delicious meal? That's a reward. We wouldn't put it past those Lambeau chefs to sneak some undercooked meat to Brett Farve before game time.

What happened to making someone sing in a crowded bar sans clothes?

Enjoying food is part of the whole football experience, not a punishment.

So as you gather around the game make sure you have plenty of artery-clogging goodness. Whether it’s our suggestion of kielbasa and cheese, 99 cent hot dogs shoplifted from the corner store, or the amazingly tasty 12th Man Primo at Pagliacci.

We knew this pie had nothing whatsoever to do with football or Hawk fans, but we got overcome with team spirit and couldn't help ourselves. Luckily it made our belly full and happy. So at least part of you will be, just in case the Packers somehow find a way to stop Shaun Alexander.

And remember, unless there is cash or abject humiliation, keep the wagers to the politicians.
