A Reason to Visit Kent: Punjab Sweets

punjab.JPGIf you are anything like us, you frequently read glowing recommendations of fine little eateries on the outskirts of Seattle and think: I really should check that out sometime. But the truth is--urbanite that you are--you only vaguely know where places like Kent and Burien are (south?) and rarely take the time to actually venture out of your cozy little city.

But as fine a city as Seattle is, it lacks some things that are essential to our well-being, and Punjab Sweets just became one of them. Nestled in a strip mall in Kent, this tiny Indian Sweet shop has no equal in Seattle. They serve a fantastic array of sweets, our favorites being the Gulab Jamun (little doughnuts drenched in honey syrup) and the Almond Burfi (what marzipan should be, a soft and supple almond candy with no artificial taste). In addition to their namesake sweets, they also serves a reasonably-priced menu of vegetarian fare and a deliciously fortifying cup of chai.

So drive to Kent, eat some food, buy a box of sweets to go and think to yourself: I'm so glad I'm not at Victrola.
