I have been seriously saddened by the broadway taco bell's demise. It was a regular source of cheap and tasty food for me through most of college and post-college working days(taking the #7 or 49 south up the hill or walking north up broadway) and, more recently, a sporadic source of cheap and tasty post-night out drinking food. The open 'til 3:30 AM on the weekends aspect couldn't be beat. Not even by Dick's - makes Sir Mix-a-Lot's rhyme a bit ironic, no?

I know there are many who won't miss it a bit, but I will...a lot.

$2 a taco is too expensive unless it's really good authentic tacos.

Taco Bell was great because you new there was a significant possibility you would die. But what a way to go.

I don't think anyone would have recommended that Taco Bell for Zagats, but hell. When you're at the north end of Broadway, hungry, possibly intoxicated, it sounds good. Then you order way too much for $8 and finish it all in 15 minutes, spend 10 crying, take twice as long to get home, and then spend the rest of the night in the bathroom.

I really don't see how anyone can not appreciate that grandness.

i disagree. when i've been drinking i want to spend as little money as possible to get as full as possible. spending $8 for 4 tacos and not feeling full is not a good deal. and judging by some of the yelp comments, most people would agree.

add to that the fact they don't open until 8 and i don't see them lasting that long unless they are skimping on ingredients and have free rent. either that or people are just gullible and willing to pay too much for tiny tacos. then again, i think the owners i trying to target drunk people and drunk people aren't known for their good judgment.

Maybe they could put an Interlock device on the door of the Taco Bell, so only sober people could order? I used to live two blocks away, I can't tell you how many times I woke up, staggered into my living room, saw some Taco Bell wrappers on the floor and knew that I've done a very bad thing.
