With everyone still nursing their post-NYE hangover, there's not much going on this weekend in terms of live music. In fact, your best venue bet for the foreseeable future is Chop Suey. Head there tonight to help Unscrew the Croc Employees with a all-local lineup including Coconut Coolouts, The Intelligence, The Girls, and Das Llamas.
Tonight there's also Carrie Akre's last show before she takes a loooooong (and well-deserved) break. It's at the Triple Door. Here's Akre this summer at the West Seattle Street Fair (jump to the :30 mark unless you like watching musicians tune)
Saturday there's the monthly KEXP Audioasis benefit event at High Dive, with Grayskul playing both an early and late show (the latter with Tullycraft, if the twee's your thing). Here's Grayskul from Capitol Hill Block Party (if you've got speakers and you're at work, turn 'em down to avoid blasting an F-bomb).
Back to Chop Suey, on Sunday there's wonderfully named boy-girl duo Cock and Swan and looking all the way ahead to Monday, Throw Me the Statue begins their one-month weekly residency at Chop Suey. They'll play with different bands every Monday, and to kick things off with Husbands Love Your Wives, Final Spins, The Golden Isles, and The Wild Types. (Here's Throw Me the Statue at Bimbos):
