After suffering decades of rocker-inflicted damage and debauchery, hotel rooms are finally fighting back. Their first victim: Former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell.
Via SFGate.com:
The star and his wife Vicky were staying at the Faena Hotel in Buenos Aires last week following a gig in the capital, but their visit was ruined when many of their possessions were damaged.A source tells Page Six, "After performing in front of a sold-out 20,000 capacity arena, Chris returned to his room and was relaxing with Vicky when the walls started trembling, like in an earthquake.
"Then, Chris smelled something burning, and suddenly, the entire entrance of the hallway collapsed and gallons of freezing cold water entered the room. Within a matter of moments, Chris and his wife were up to their knees in water. ... They finally scrambled out but lost a lot of stuff."
Apparently they did lose a lot--damages were estimated at $30,000. (WTF does the guy bring on tour?)
The timing sucks for Cornell, who in recent weeks has dealt with a home break-in and endured death threats from his ex-wife.
But like Axl Rose on a coke-high, hotel rooms don't give a shit about feelings. Watch out, Ben Gibbard, you wild emeffer, you could be next.
