$13.76: The Most Expensive Starbucks Drink Ever?

Starbucks Center in Sodo Back in September, Billy Chasen had a mission: concoct the single most expensive Starbucks drink he could. The winner?

I told the barista that I was there as part of a contest to make the most expensive drink. She played along, trying to squeeze as much as we could into a venti cup. She thoroughly enjoyed the problem at hand (although other customers on line were getting peeved).

And the ultimate yuppified result: A 13 shot venti soy hazelnut vanilla cinnamon white mocha with extra white mocha and caramel. It cost a total of $13.76 (with tax).

Drinkability was obviously of secondary importance. (Though apparently it's good frozen.)

Chasen's post went up on September 28. Jim Romenesko's Starbucks Gossip linked to his post this morning. And after three months and industry blog exposure, no one's come up with a drink more expensive than Chasen's.

We don't drink coffee. And we certainly wouldn't drink that. But we'd love to know if someone out there has cracked the $14 drink barrier. You?

Can I count spilling it on my $100 jeans? If yes, cracked it.

We drink coffee, and that is why we would NEVER drink that disgusting cup of gloop. Well, if someone dared us to and paid for the drink, we probably would take a sip, but still that shit is NASTY. The royal Seattlest we, I mean.
