Weekend Music

Things always die down right around the holidays, so not much is going on tonight, except local noise mavens X-Ray Press will be celebrating their CD release (and the addition of their new keyboardist) at Jules Maes in Georgetown.

Meanwhile, on Saturday David Bazan (of Pedro the Lion and Headphones) plays at the Croc

unless you want to go to Chop Suey and get rocked (non-threateningly) by Shonen Knife. Here's a video from last night's show in Vancouver of them singing about sushi.

Early on Sunday (3pm) some of the students from Portland's Paul Green's School of Rock will be strutting their stuff and playing classic rock covers, along with the Lonely H, at Chop Suey. A Seattle school will open come January, so be on the lookout for upcoming performances from a talented class of local kids.

Sunday night, if you're really itching for a scary show, there's Himsa at El Corazon or Avenged Sevenfold at Showbox SoDo, but our money's on the solid pop lineup of Via Audio, Tiger City, and Office at the High Dive. Here's Via Audio's take on a karaoke video.
