Had a similar problem when About.com named Cornichon.org one of the top ten food blogs on the internets. Huge spike in traffic; Google figured it was click fraud and shut me down. They did eventually reinstate me, but kept hundreds of $$ of "fraudulent clicks."

Agreed. Also, this just goes to show all the idealists out there. No matter what happens and what your mission statement is (see: Do no evil), a corporation will always be somewhat an irresponsible member of American Society.

You know, that's not a bad idea for a niche blog with documented readership, I have to say. You could be on to something. If I were, say, the Red Balloon Co. on 15th and I knew about CHS, a banner ad could be an inexpensive way of saying hello to the neighborhood. Or if I were Coastal Kitchen, announcing the latest menu switch. I bet blogs are terrifically undervalued, in relation to their targeted reach.
