domestic_goddess.jpgToday John Cook mentioned a new, locally based social networking site in his Venture Blog: ListenToYourWife.com.

Howard Ro, the husband in the husband-and-wife team behind the site, explains:

Ro, an IT consultant, says that many married women feel as if they are not "being heard."

"It's not due to abuse or neglect, but just due to the nature of male dominance in a marriage," he said. "We wanted to create a forum for wives to go and share freely about their expertise, emotions, and connect with other wives."

In response, quips flew around Seattlest HQ.

Jack: "Male dominance in a marriage? Puh-lease."

Katie: "First sign of a healthy relationship: You describe yours as 'male-dominated.' Second sign of a healthy relationship: Airing your biz on the internet is more useful than TALKING TO YOUR SPOUSE."

James: "I love that the site, devoted to wives, by wives, and for wives, has a URL directly addressing their husbands."

Courtney: "I'd comment but my husband screens all my email."

Cook points to a more serious critique of the site on Mashable: "What this site boils down to is a blogging network. As a member, you can rant and rave all day about the awful gift your husband brought home, or the worrisome mother-in-law."

We'll report back on Mrs. Seattlest's opinion once she visits the site. She's got stubborn stains in our shirt collars to take care of first.
