Sometimes the world really is a beautiful place. Specifically when there's beer involved. Jack's meeting friends on Saturday for a session of oak-aged beer tasting at Brouwer's Big Wood Fest. He'll then spend the rest of the day rubbing his tum tum and smiling a lot.
Thrilled about the possibility of the year's first snow fall, Kim will spend as much of the weekend as possible getting over the cold that's been lingering for a week, reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, and eagerly staring out the window. Maybe she'll swing by Planet Beach for a shot of the good ol' UVs. On Monday, when it's not the weekend anymore, she'll happily leave the house to see Iron & Wine at the Moore.
Jeremy's headed to Solo down in Lower Queen Anne after work for cocktails with some co-workers, after which it's off to dinner and then to see No Country for Old Men. The rest of the weekend is, as of yet, open.
It's true. Skiiing starts this weekend! Charles has been able to think of nothing else since Thursday when he heard that both Crystal and Baker would be open Saturday. He will happily clear out that day so the wife can study and ski at Crystal. That night, he'll watch The Flames kick some ass on Hockey Night in Canada.
And so begins the season of Katie's fervid obsession with all-things-Christmas. She's playing Santa for an awesome kid from Seattle Children's Home this year and will spend the weekend giddily shopping and checking things off of his wishlist. If you're looking to do something charitable this holiday, Katie encourages you to check out SCH: a fantastic organization that would love your help fulfilling some wishes for their low-income kids and teens.
Do you hear that? Neither does Courtney. Big, blank nothingness. That is what she has blissfully planned for this weekend, in anticipation of the upcoming 4-week holiday blitzkrieg that starts shortly thereafter.
The Fleet Foxes are playing tonight at the Croc, really as a sort of birthday present for MvB, though they would never say that so don't ask if it's true or not. For god's sake let's not be gauche. Saturday, South Park Arts has their "art under $100" exhibition at the Old Firehouse from 4-10pm. Sunday, Daniel Comiskey & C.E. Putnam have their Crawlspace "Cavemen! Carnies! Ghosts and Bacon!" poetry book launch and CD party at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater, 7:30pm.
For Tera, it's fingers crossed for Crystal, and trying not be bummed about how the "potential snow" frenzy foreclosed her family's travel abilities and killed her weekend plans.
Matt will be going to the Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery First Anniversary Party Saturday night.
Thanks for the picture Alex Hollman. It's called Buddah snow 1 small and it sure is nifty. Have you joined the Seattlest flickr pool yet?
