I grew up 90 miles from St. Louis in Central Illinois. Gooey Butter cake made me what I am today... an overweight diabetic that can't even look at a piece without my glucose levels soaring. My mom made the BEST gooey butter cake in the world. She used cream cheese. I'll try to track down her recipe and send it along. It's heaven. It's made better with a glass of milk.

I have never heard of gooey butter cake before, but God knows I love butter. And cake.
