Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By

Melbourne-based quartet The Drones are a little bit country, a little bit blues, and a lotta bit rock 'n' roll. And check it out, they've got one of the most eclectic list of influences we've ever seen:

Van Morrison or Dylan or Suicide or Bad Brains or Nina Simone or Black Flag or the Scientists or Ornette Coleman or Thelonius Monk or (australian)X or Townes Van Zandt or John Lee Hooker or Karen Dalton or Neil Young or Bela Bartok or Mingus or Al Green or www.ubu.com or blah blah blah

Plus they've got a penchant for great album titles (see headline), and a hot chick bassist, always a welcome addition to any band.

Above is a thirteen-minute sampling of the Drones' not-easily-classified rock sound. But there's a helluva lot more where that came from, specifically when they open for used-to-be-local Band of Horses on their two-night stand at the Showbox next week (next Monday and Tuesday, 11/19 and 11/20).

Seattlest has one pair of tickets to give away to each show. Enter to win by filling out the form(s) below. No worries: Your info is safe with us and will not be shared with advertisers and/or the government, yadda yadda yadda. We'll be drawing two winners Friday at 10am.
