Seahawks 24, Artery Clogging Fiesta 0

(This fall we are combining our love of the football and our dream of learning to cook. On Sunday morning, following a trip to a local farmer’s market/major supermarket chain, we will be preparing a meal from the city of the Seahawks opponent. Then at halftime we will throw our badly burned hands in the air and make hot dogs.)

Seahawks vs Artery Clogging Fiesta Preview

BadIdea2.jpgBad ideas often disguise themselves as good ideas. How many times have you said, "Wouldn't it be fun if we…," only to spend the next several hours washing blood out of your rented limo?

We were reminded of this last night as our Artery Clogging Fiesta potluck provided our taste buds with about thirty minutes of enjoyment, and the rest of our body a night of regret and meat sweats.

There was plenty of absolutely delicious home cooked food for our greasy little fingers to play with; creamy macaroni and cheese, with a sauce made of cheddar, parmesan, and Béchamel sauce. Scotch eggs with their deep fried sausage and Cheese-It shell. Then there was garlic bread, and the vegetable courses—artichoke dip and fresh guacamole.

If that wasn't enough, we were also supplied with Papa John's three pork pizza and five ArbyQs. It is a miracle that we had as many cases of food poisoning as Forty-Niner first-half first downs.

Even the drinks were heavy, as we downed a variety of winter beer and Dartmouth Frank's San Francisco brewed Anchor Steam. One of our attendees suggested that if we ever do this again, maybe we should stick to light beer.

We don't think that we'll have to worry about ever doing this again, not because it's a bad idea, but because our fingers are now way too puffy. Oh, and it's also a very bad idea.

NEXT WEEK—We are off injured reserve and have been given clearance to cook.

In the aftermath of that, today I've eaten plain yogurt, nuts, a tuna sandwich and a green salad. Yet I still feel disgusting.

In response to this meal, my heart completed 12 of 28 passes for 114 yards and lost two fumbles last night. There were no first downs in sight this morning. Also, my arms keep falling asleep.

I'm looking to find a way to get some Goose Island Beer before this week.

It's a bit of a challenge...
