Snowcap Recap: The Dandy Warhols @ Get Snowed In
Last year at the second night of Pyramid's "Get Snowed In Party" we had a great time. Matt Costa played. We didn't even know who that was, and though we didn't exactly rush out and buy his record, it was a good scene.
This year on the second night of "Get Snowed In," we had a great time. This Seattlest contributor hails from Portland originally, and yet strangely has never seen The Dandy Warhols live.
It wasn't nearly as cold inside the big revival-style tent as last year, when it was downright frigid. We showed up a bit earlier this year to check out the scene, arriving shortly after the gates opened, and wandered about the booths, featuring the usual suspects (107.7 The End, the Snowrider Project). Inside the main area, there was a self-described "beer luge," though in reality it was more an ice sculpture with the tubes for two beer bongs frozen inside. Overhead, snowboarding videos were projected on the tent.
We spent most of the first set (by a band whose name we weren't able to catch--can someone help?) outside the tent by a second beer bar. But we were inside in time to catch the beginning of the Dandies' set. Heavy on the strobe lights, fog machine and bleary psychedelic rock, The Dandy Warhols delivered a set of recent tunes and old favorites (including "Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth" and "Bohemian Like You").
So thanks to the good people at Pyramid, and for those of you who missed "Get Snowed In," plop a note in your Google calendar to buy tix next November first.
See below the fold for some more photos of night 2 of "Get Snowed In."
