Second chances are rare, but here you go, Seattle. Last time Great Northern came to town, y'all bunked out and went home instead of sticking around for the inevitable encore. The band pulled the plug, had a smoke and packed it in. And we were sad.

Having been a former member of Jared Leto's band, 30 Seconds to Mars, Solon Bixler knows a thing or two about the glossy/gloomy Los Angeles indie pop scene. Toss in longtime friend Rachel Stolte (whose dreamy voice reminds us of Aimee Mann) and you've got the groundwork for a band that puts on a truly mesmeric show -- no matter how sparse the crowd.

Side note: We ran into Rachel on Sunday morning at the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland and she was very sweet to us. So if you like what you hear tonight, feel free to let them know. We're pretty sure they won't bite.
