Shockeroo: We Love Coffee

Sleepy PenguinIn an oh-so-scientific survey, a "national emerging health care discount service" we'll decline to name (take that, PR flacks!) discovered that the most caffeinated city in the country out of 20 is ... Chicago!

We don't make the top 5 there, but Seattle/Tacoma is number one in coffee consumption -- apparently we've mastered Starbucks lingo enough to order decaf on a regular basis. "58 percent of residents surveyed [said] this elixir of alertness would be the most difficult caffeine product to give up," notes the survey, without clarifying whether or not decaf is included.

On the other hand, Seattle's not big on cola (sorry, Diet Dr Pepper!) or tea (sorry, Tazo!), ranking #4 on the least cola and least tea consumption lists.

We are number 1 in one other category, though: we're the city "most likely to say caffeine is good for you." Los Angeles begs to differ, at #1 on the "bad for you" list, and Boston doesn't really care but wants their Dunkin' Donuts coffee now dammit because they're #1 on the "most addicted" list.

WE ARE NUMBER ONE! What does it TAKE to be number one? Two is not a winner and Three nobody remembers. WE. ARE. NUMBER ONE. (Thank you hiphop and thank you coffee for this burst of morning energy.)
