Get Out Tonight: Poetry On Buses Launch Party @ the Moore

PoetryBus_2003.jpgAdmittedly, the only reason we know this is because we submitted a poem and it's on a bus, and so we were invited to the party. Sadly there was never any chance that we were going to stand up in public and read it. Its only purpose is to disrupt the glances of bus riders lingering over the list of things you're not allowed to do on buses in Spanish, the announcement of whichever UW STD study, and the Mechanic of the Year Award. Okay, we really did it for the Slog -- we would have liked to have dedicated it to them officially.

Plenty of people's poetry never makes it onto buses. Here's an unselected fragment that we were robbed of, from 2002:

Bees! Bees! Bees! Bees! Bees! Bees!
I'll snap my fingers right in your face.
You just lost five minutes.
Sleep.
That is awesome and we're sad we never got to see it.

Anyway, the Poetry on Buses launch party is tonight at the Moore, and rather cannily the organizers have made it into more than just a poetry reading:

“Dreams in 50 words or less” – short revelations from 2007 Poetry on Buses poets, a candid solo performance from Geologic of the Blue Scholars, expert audience analysis by the Vis-à-Vis Society scientists, musical hospitality by DJ Sabzi of the Blue Scholars, and Seattle’s 2006 – 2007 Poet Populist Jourdan Keith as emcee. Come out to the 2007 Poetry on Buses Launch Party and pick up your own free copy of the 2007 Poetry on Buses Dreams Book.
Holy shit, a free book of poetry. We hope they printed extras!

MvB may be too cool to go to this, but I will definitely be there. With a friend called my flask. Just kidding, I will be there with a human friend and we plan to have a fabulous and poetic time.
