LayerTennis Isn't Just For Design Geeks

Seattlest--very much not a design geek--loved last week's match between designers Naz Hamid and Chris Glass. It works like this: One designer creates an image in fifteen minutes. His opponent then has fifteen minutes of his own to edit/riff on/respond to that image. They go back and forth for ten rounds, all while the peanut gallery (that's you) and a designated commentator judge the results.

Last week's commentator was Rosecrans Baldwin, who is a funny dude. This week's commentator is Seattle's own Matthew Baldwin who is an absolutely hysterical dude and it's worth tuning in at noon for him alone. You may know him from The Morning News or his blog Defective Yeti. Here's his Halloween-themed match preview for today's fight between Brian Taylor of Rustboy fame and Jason Santa Maria from Happy Cog Studios.

The final volley of last week's match (above) is a pretty cool image on it's own, but it only makes sense if you see browse through all the images. Check it out, and make sure you go back at noon to watch this week's fight live.

I’m addicted to Layer Tennis, it’s my new reality TV replacement. I have to go get my hair cut at lunch today, and when I remembered this morning, I thought “Nooooooo! Right in the middle of Layer Tennis!” Very awesome to see Matt refereeing this round.
