Rossi: Back Up in Your Ass with the Resurrection

Dino%2520crisis%25202.jpgThose who attended the Issaquah Village Theater’s matinee of The King and I today may have come away a little disappointed. Dino Rossi used the stage to announce his candidacy for governor.

After his Eastside announcement, Rossi raced the telegraph wires to Spokane and made his announcement again this afternoon.

The man who got his asshole handed to him three years ago by current governor Christine Gregoire, has been the Republicans' guy since he decided not to run for the Senate against Maria Cantwell last year.

In an interview with the AP Rossi explained why this campaign will be different:

"In 2004, I was introducing myself to the public and probably 80 percent of the people thought 'Dino Rossi' was some kind of wine. Now that Gregoire is an incumbent, I will compare and contrast what she has done and what I will do. She has left a trail of broken promises."

At the Seattle Times David Postman writes that Rossi may want to stick to the contrasting:

"During his tour of the state, Rossi said at one stop that Gregoire had begun to copy his good ideas. What does that leave Rossi then for a campaign? 'She's doing what I'd do, but I thought of it first'? That's hardly, 'Are you better off today than you were four years ago?'"

Gregoire and Rossi have known about this rematch for years, and have been planning their campaigns and lives accordingly. Now with 375 days until Election Day it's official.

What kinds of cheese should I pair with that Dino Rossi wine?

Katelyn,

I'm pretty sure Vieux Boulogne.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be another close race, but that's not going to be due much to Dino.
