Go Go Smear the Poison Ivy with Múm

Oh Iceland. As we've previously noted, its chilly climes makes for a hot music scene. Though you may not be able to pronounce them correctly, you know the names: Björk, Sigur Rós, Benni Hemm Hemm, Amiina. There are various accent marks and umlauts up the yin-yang, but in terms of music, Icelandic spells quality.

Along with hot springs, smooth vodka, and the puffin, another national treasure of the island republic is experimental electro outfit Múm. It's been three years since the release of their last album (Summer Make Good), and in the interim things within the band have changed plenty. They lost singer/multi-instrumentalist Kristín Valtýsdóttir (no doubt to her husband Avey Tare of Animal Collective), but the remaining original members Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar óreyjarson Smárasongained rebounded nicely by adding a few more folks to the party. The band is now larger than ever, seven members in all. New album Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy reflects these changes: for the first time in the band's history, some songs have (gasp) male vocals.

Múm plays at Neumo's this Saturday night. Seattlest has a pair of tickets to give away to the all ages show. Enter to win by filling out the form below. No worries: Your info is safe with us and will not be shared with advertisers and/or the government, yadda yadda yadda. We'll be drawing one winner Wednesday at noon.
