Get Out Tonight: Kiss Me I'm Single Book Reading @ Queen Anne Books

amanda.jpgA while ago we interviewed local author Amanda Ford about her new book Kiss Me I'm Single: An Ode to the Solo Life. Tonight's book reading is supposed to include "one or more of the following: a lively discussion of archetypal paradoxes that pervade human existence, origami lessons, singing of vintage sorority songs, libation consumption, kissing, the use of metaphors."

Elsewhere she says the book grew out of:

...the stormy, excited-yet-fearful energy that has enveloped me in the years since my divorce. It is a book by a young woman coming into her own, trying to make sense of love and individuality and trying to reconcile her desire for both. It is a youthful book full of tender revelations and wild uncertainties.

My goal in Kiss Me, I'm Single is simple: to bring comfort to single women during times when they feel lonely and afraid. I want to help women cope with the sadness that comes when life does not deliver their dreams. I want to show women a way to be comfortable with the ambiguous moments and be kinder to themselves throughout the ups and downs of life.

We imagine at least half of Queen Anne's residents might show up for a good talking-to about living the single life successfully. Visit her website for more on what it's like to be a woman in her late-20s who lives in an artist commune near a forest.
