A Message From Your Editor: No More Guest Comments
Hello all--
News from the front lines of the blogging revolution: We've killed guest comments.
Well, to be accurate our corporate overlords have killed guest comments. Ist-wide, the vast majority of spam and boorish behavior comes from guest commenters. As many Internet pundits have observed, total anonymity seems to make even the nicest person act totally insane.
It hasn't been much of a problem here at Seattlest, and I'd like to thank those guest commenters who've refrained from using their cloak of invisibility for evil. I hope you'll join us in the new, guest-less world.
Registration on the new system takes about 15 seconds--you can do it here. Once you register you get a nifty profile page, showing all of your previous Seattlest comments. You can also select an "avatar"--a little photo of your choosing which will show up whenever you comment.
A note about privacy: the new system does require a working email address to complete registration. It does not require you to share your real name, or any other information about you. Seattlest will not sell your email address to third parties.
If you have any questions or misgivings or advice or--especially--a line on Hannah Montana tickets, please feel free to email me, Editor Seth, at kolloen at the gmail service. You can email Editor Dan at seattlest.dan at the gmail service.
You can also--once you register--use this post as a forum to comment on these changes.
Thanks for reading.
