Celebrity, Real Estate Investor, Celebrity

Flip%20This%20House.jpgWe recently asked friends and strangers if hosts of popular television shows “Devine Design”, “Flip This House” and “House Hunters” were real-life designers and real estate agents before network giants “discovered” them.

We were starting to feel a moment of mental weakness on the subject when we, rather randomly, received a lovely note inviting us and you to see Than Merrill and Paul Esajian of A&E’s “Flip This House” during their real estate marketing tour. Than and Paul wish to offer their investment knowledge to millionaire-hopefuls at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bellevue, October 11.

We read Than and Paul’s backgrounds: Yale, NFL (Bears, Buccaneers), Connecticut then CT Homes, LLC. Their real-estate portfolio is impressive and we were about to RSVP when we read this line in the advertisement: “…Do the math. Then come and learn from the "King."

Awe, King. This is when the celebrity of Than and Paul soak through the paper. We do not doubt the duo’s ability to make money flipping houses, but to call themselves “Kings” and then play the “I’m not a celebrity card” seems ironic. Just admit it, Than and Paul – you created a smart real estate business, which you marketed into a reality television show. It was a profitable business move, so embrace it.

You can RSVP here if you are interested in attending. Maybe we will be there. Maybe. Just not sure.

I know Kimberly Rider, who guests on HGTV's Curb Appeal, is a working designer. That's why she's a guest, I think -- she prefers actually *being* an interior designer to playing one on TV.

I do understand your hesitation after seeing Than being called the King, but hope you don't let that hold you back from attending. (there are plenty of other players in the real estate industry that call themselves "The King" and other such nonsense, but it's just marketing. The event should be worth your time.

One thing you did fail to mention is that the event is sponsored by the Real Estate Investors Association (http://www.reiawa.com ) which is a fairly new group in the area. From the past two events that I've attended, I've found that it is a fantastic group of people and I've made good contacts and learned something at each event. Anyone with an interest in real estate should consider becoming a member. It's inexpensive, and once you are a member, the monthly events are FREE.

everyone remembers the this line from american beauty, right?

Buddy Kane: [Carolyn is having sex in a motel room with the Real Estate King] Do you like getting nailed by the King?
Carolyn Burnham: Yes, your majesty!
