Last Friday we saw Sea Wolf at Chop Suey. We found this Pop Matters review of their first full-length album, but if you'd like to learn more, here's an interview by Sound on the Sound.
The band says "We want to be JUST LIKE:"
Wolf Eyes, Wolf Parade, We Are Wolves, AIDS Wolf, Wolfie, Wolf Colonel, Patrick Wolf, WolfMother, Guitar Wolf, Steppenwolf, Hugo Wolf, Kate Wolf, Laurent Wolf, Wolf City, Duran Duran (though they don't really count. they were just 'hungry like a wolf'), Howlin' Wolf, Superwolf, White Wolf, Seasons of the Wolf, Wolf & Cub, Peanut Butter Wolf, Peter Wolf, Peter and the Wolf, Los Lobos, Fuckwolf, The Wolfgang Press, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Wolfstone, The WolfnoteWe knew them from their EP Get To The River Before It Runs Too Low. They are, at last MySpace page updating, Alex Brown Church on vocals and acoustic guitar, Lisa Fendelander, keyboards; Theodore Liscinski, bass; Aniela Perry, cello; Byron Reynolds, drums; and Aaron Robinson, electric guitar. You have to love Church's mournful baritone's quaver and his way with a memorable lyric. And then there's Perry's cello, droning, spooling out ribbons of sound, popping repeatedly between notes. Listen for yourself at MySpace. Getting the enthusiasm across would be simpler if we could just bottle the Chop Suey crowd breaking into hoots and applause after every song.
Seattle's Fleet Foxes [MySpace], loved by Spin, pokey album putter-outers, warmed things up with a lively, polished set, also delighting the audience. We've sort of Fleet Foxed ourselves out here on Seattlest, so we'll just leave it with saying that you could literally feel the love in the air.

Tuesdays are Muppet Days
