Neck Injury Ends Longtime Seahawk Mack Strong's Career
Mack Strong, who's played more games as a Seahawk than all but one other player, has a cracked vertebrae in his neck. He won't play football again, KOMO is reporting.
Strong's appearance against Pittsburgh yesterday was his 201st game as a Seahawk, pushing him past Steve Largent (200) for second place on the all-time Hawks games-played list. The only player above Strong is Joe Nash (218).
Strong's career numbers:
Games: 201
Rushes: 230
Rushing Yards: 909
Rushing TDs: 5
Catches: 218
Receiving Yards: 1456
Receiving TDs: 10
Of course, Strong's value to the Hawks can't be reflected in traditional counting stats, he was a blocker nonpareil, and it was on the strength of this skill that he started the 2005 and 2006 Pro Bowls.
But he does hold one unexpected Hawks rushing record. His 32-yard third-down rumble against Washington in the 2005 playoffs is the longest postseason run in Seahawks history.
