Oktoberfest - Part II

After enjoying last weekend's Washington Brewer's Oktoberfest, we are now preparing ourselves for this weekend's Fremont Oktoberfest.
The festivities start at 5pm tonight and continue through Sunday. So, you should have plenty of time to make it to the festival (Without missing any important football games…).
There will be a pumpkin carving contest using chainsaws, a 5k Run/Walk on Sunday morning, musical entertainment and a "Dog Day" on Sunday afternoon. But, as is the tradition, the focal point of the weekend will be beer offerings from over 35 brewers. Following are a few offerings that you shouldn't miss.
Hale's Obrien's Harvest Ale - Hale’s has been brewing their Obrien’s Harvest Ale late every summer since 1986, which makes it one of the longest running seasonal beers in the state. Made with fresh Cascade, Centennial and Simcoe hops from Yakima, this has instantly become one of our favorite local beers. With all of those hops, it is surprisingly balanced with 4 malt varieties that give it a bit of sweetness.. Don’t let the malt fool you though; the Harvest Ale is still all about the hops.
Rogue Issaquah Brewhouse Uber Frog - A German style Alt Bier, brewed by Rogue especially for The Tap House Grill.
Stranger Big Double Trouble IPA - Made by Lazy Boy Brewing, this IPA is not has hoppy as the name implies. It is a balanced IPA that starts a bit sweet and finishes with bitter hops. We love Lazy Boy; they will also be pouring their Belgian Gold and Porter at the festival. Both are worth trying.
Victory Prima Pils - One of our favorite American made Pilsners. A clean and clear Pils that isn't shy with the hops. At a light 5.3% alcohol, this would be a good one to stick to if you're in for the long haul. Victory, from Pennsylvania, has been a welcome addition to the Seattle market over the past year.
Overall, the beer selection is not as enticing as the Washington Brewer's Oktoberfest. But, there is plenty to keep you interested.
