When you become as popular on the local music scene as "Awesome", it’s good to give back to the community, and do a little something for the kids. Hence Here's What Happened, which the band describes as a children’s show with an adult brain.
We asked to the band members to pass along some advice to the children-- who will always be our future.
John Ackerman—"Keep playing no matter how old you get." "You can always act like a kid."
Kirk Anderson—"Real estate." "Buy or sell low…No, buy low, never sell." "Be born into money."
Basil Harris—"Kids, be X-TREME."
Evan Mosher—"Don't do drugs... until you're in college. If you even go to college, which I might not advise. In which case: don't do drugs until you've already figured out how to be productive with your free time."
David Nixon—"Do some piece of art every day."
John Osebold—"Don’t worry about it." "Keep your eyes open, your ears open, and your mouth open." "Dress yourself."
Rob Witmer—"Showing up is 90 percent of the job. If you show up for something it doesn’t matter how good you are or who you are." "Wanna be in a band, show up. It doesn’t mater that you’re brilliant if you don’t show up."
The excellent Here's What Happened starts Thursday night and runs through Saturday in the Eve Alvord Theatre at Seattle Children's Theatre.
