Josh: I know, right? It's like '90s Cheney vs. '00s Cheney. I shoulda known that the show would be a mess, but I went anyways, and surprise surprise, it was a goddamn quagmire. Memo to self: Never give anyone/anything a second chance ever again.

If only Audrey (March 2006) had a way of communicating with Audrey (September 2007): "But after last night, we've decided that we'd much rather experience Animal Collective in the pre-recorded form." [seattlest] Good for you for giving them another shot. I'm not really sure what I thought. I think I liked it even though it made me deaf and crazy for a day.

Not being on hallucigens (though I now wish I was), I had a difficult time getting into the show on Friday. I recognized very little of the music, and found much of the show to be repetitive. It sounds like an artistic cop out to say that I wished they sounded more like the recorded stuff, but, well, I wish they sounded more like the recorded stuff.

Thank you! Animal Collective has to be the most overhyped example of music blogs going wild since Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (with the difference being the first Clap Your Hands album was actually worth listening to). The very occasional strokes of inspiration just aren't worth putting up with the rest of the irritation from these guys. And don't even get me started on the Beach Boys ripoff that is Panda Bear.
