The 8th congressional district lost five-term Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn and candidate Rodney Tom in the last twenty-four hours.
Dunn, who served from 1993-2005, died of a pulmonary embolism last night. She was 66.
We'll always remember how every two years the Democrats would find some young Microsoft millionaire to run against her, claiming that the district's new tech money was shifting the votes their way. They were wrong.
Her 2004 announcement that she wasn't running for re-election set up the showdown between Dave Reichert, the man who singlehandedly caught the Green River Killer, and Democrat Darcy Burner. Reichert kept the district in the hands of the Republicans and will face Burner again
next year.
Burner was going to have to beat State Senator Tom in the Democratic primary, however, he decided that Burner has too much money and support to compete with and backed out of the race.

Reichert beat Dave Ross in 2004.
"the man who single handily caught the Green River Killer,"
Are you being sarcastic? He was a middle manager beurocrat for decades while the police bungled the investigation. Women kept getting killed for DEACADES. That is hardly something to praise Reichart over.

Oh, Dave Ross. I love Dave Ross. If only he made an effort to be a politican. Y'know, do what politians do.... for only a few months. Dave Ross just isn't a politian. And, he in 2004 he did not have the name recognition of "Dave Reichart, Green River Killer". What a great congressman Dave Ross would have been for the 8th District!
