If you work Downtown you've probably seen the small army of purple basket toting chalk artists that have descended on the city today. Every intersection, every possible approach, is currently being tagged with the URL for a job site.

You know who really needs to use this site right now? The guys who are walking around with the chalk. And does marketing by overwhelming annoyance really work? Sadly, we suspect it does, although hopefully not enough to counteract the ill will in generates in everyone else who has to look at these things all day now.

these are the same douchebags who constantly put up illegal plastic signs on telephone polls...

(although I haven't seen any in the last 4 months or so)

The site is now live! Abit basic right now but I did what I could today... =( after I spilled water on my laptop and now the keyboard input is kaputs. @#$@#

Please check back by the end of the weekend and this will be a bit more built up. This is our first battle but I'm thinking of making this a stand against this new age of marketing.

@3: What are you, on their payroll? This stunt qualifies as many things, not one of them nearing "genius". People have been marking (tagging) things in public for ages. It's called graffiti, and it's no less a public nuisance when sponsored by a company, local or not. Those geniuses should get a less ridiculous name. And lose the purple/green. Ick.

Somehow I thought even chalking was considered grafitti and therefore criminal activity. No?

Ill will from those who "have to look at these things all day now"?!?

Unless you're a street person, you're not staring at the sidewalk all day. You're only using it to get from point A to point B (probably your existing lousy job).

This is genius from Jobdango (which happens to be a local company!)

Wait, are you talking about direct physical action as opposed to just talking about it on a website? Interesting thinking, Weazul...

I'm out for this particular weekend, but I would be behind some kind of anti-chalk task force to the tune of wearing a tee shirt, hitting the streets with a scrub brush and water and talking about it on a website.

Rather than just blarg about this.. lets do something about it! A couple of us.. some anti-in-your-face-without-a-choice marketing shirts, a couple spray water bottles, and some rags or something. We could even turn the leftover caulk crap into something slightly arty.

What do you say seattlest..? sweet post at least.
