City Council Primary Preview: Position 3

busses.jpgPosition 3 is the most anticipated city council race. It's an open seat, and that seems to be the only way to get new blood on the council.

Bruce Harrell and Venus Velazquez will end up in the general, with Tuesday's primary serving as a chance trim the fat (Al Runte, Scott Feldman, John Manning) and give both sides a platform to claim victory.

Before we make our November decision, we'll be voting for Scott Feldman.

We've noted how hard it is to find parking at Democrat District meetings, what with all the single drivers meeting to change the world. Everyone, including the candidates, seems to drive to these things. Following the 43rd's meeting in July, we spotted Feldman waiting for the bus (or for someone to bring his Hummer around).

In this city of politicians explaining the virtues of mass transit and less cars, it was a first and refreshing to see someone running for office actually practicing this method.

Also he mentioned Ken Griffey Jr in his voter guide statement, so we'll probably vote him for President as well.

Harrell is a two faced trianglator. He will go to one crowd and tell them he is for police accountability then go before another one and say that there are enough laws to keep the police accountable. A "thought leader" who will think of anything to say to get himself elected with the potential to become another process oriented do nothing on the council.

You're going to vote for a bus-taker over a former All-League Garfield linebacker?

    FOR SHAME, SIR. FOR SHAME!
