City Council Primary Preview: Position 1

Bucky.gifJean Godden used to write a column where she would point out humorous license plates, as well as the little things that make living in Seattle the silliest. Now she is on the city council and running for re-election. Her main opponent is weightlifting coach Joe Szwaja, who spent some time on the Madison City Council.

According to those in the know, "a [Madison] commuter light rail system has been proposed…but has remained on paper for decades." So he sounds like he would have no problem fitting in here.

Also running, whether the PI likes it or not, is Lauren Briel. The Times wrote that she has potential but is inexperienced, and that they hope to see her run again. We read this about young candidates a lot, and then they never run again.

Probably because they see what running for office is like and say screw it, I'm going to use my potential in a more worthwhile way. Conversely Stan Lippmann and Al Runte will be running for the rest of our lives (yes, they will outlive us all).

Robert Sondheim is the final candidate; he went to Queen Anne High School, which is the same school that our girlfriend's (sorry ladies) mom attended. He also owns the Rosebud, which has a four and half hour long happy hour, with wells for two bucks. Tuesdays are 80s night, all ladies get in for half price, and don't forget their Pizza Shooters Wednesdays with buckets of Bud for ninety-nine cents.

As a matter of sucking up, and because we made up of stuff about his bar, we are voting Sondheim.
