The fireworks show was really incredible and dangerous looking--maybe the best we've ever seen. The propane cannon was pretty weak, though (see video). Judging by the music that drifted out of the enclosure and over the hill it was some kind of wedding (thanks for the link anon commenter), and it looked like a better time was had on our side of the fence. Of course, as soon as we left the Rolling Stones probably took the stage, illuminated by giant heaps of burning U.S. currency. You know when you wake up on Sunday morning and you're going through the receipts you find in your jeans and thinking there must be some kind of mistake because no way did you spend that much money last night? Whoever bankrolled this thing has one of those coming to him tomorrow morning.

Around The -Ists This Week

It's not a mystery any longer; it was a wedding reception for Stuart Sloan. According to one of the event organizers I talked to, the actual ceremony took place yesterday.
Was fun to watch all the guests arrive on a caravan of duck boats.
And one hell of a fireworks show.

To whoever shot that:
Do you motherfuckers not know how to build a poop catapult?
