You have probably heard by now that three lanes of northbound I-5 will be shut down at Spokane Street for three weeks, starting tonight.
Now--if you don't plan to venture south of Spokane St until September, and, frankly, why would you, you don't have to worry about it.
But some of you--and some of us--do. Our top-secret Batman plan is this:
--Cut west on 518 (the highway that leads to the airport)
--Take 509 north
--Just after we get over the 1st Avenue South Bridge (which will be a nightmare), detour over to 4th Ave
--Drive up to the underused I-5 entrance on 4th just north of Holgate St.
That would put us on I-5 north of Spokane Street, where presumably tumbleweeds are rolling across the roadway and we can take up two or three lanes.
What's your plan for next week's commute?

please do not suggest any other awesome detours. we can just use them and be happy that few people know about them. it is going to be a nightmare, especially if you live in west seattle and work on the eastside.
I'll probably bike.
