Seattlest Road Trip: Prematurely Missing History

Bonds.jpg

On Monday night we went to the Giants game with a chance to see Barry Bonds break Hank Aaron's home run record. He didn't go yard, choosing to get number 756 the next night--what an ass. However, we did have a front row seat for Nook Logan's 193rd hit, so our grandkids will get to hear all about that.

The game, and in fact our entire weekend in the Bay Area, was a total Barry love fest. We couldn't help but get swept up a little in the outpouring of support, and only when we left Northern California did we remember how much he is hated by most people, and that this should have been Griffey's march towards history.

Yet every time he came to plate and the crowd rose to cheer, it was very hard not to get goosebumps and imagine how fun it would have been to watch hundreds of people jump into freezing McCovey Cove for a baseball.

When Bonds was up there were about 50% more people in the water.

Safeco is really nice, but Pac Bell/SBC/AT&T Park is the most amazing stadium we have ever visited.

In contrast, here is the Oakland Coliseum. We took this photo while running for our life.
