Get Out: Burn, Techies, Burn
Tonight is the fourth Ignite Seattle tech event and since the two previous ones that we attended were so mind-explodingly great, we recommend it without reservation. Lots of drunk technology guys and entrepreneurs will be mixing with each other and taking in the super short presentations that super smart people are scheduled to give.
Deepak Singh will be talking about nanotech and biology, which admittedly is not everyone's bag, but we promise you it will be fascinating for five minutes which is as long as the talks last. Beth Goza is a personal fave and she'll be talking about the "Third Screen" whatever that is. Scott Kennedy, Dave McClure, Sarah Schacht, hacking chocolate, being an online citizen, making art not content, microfinance, epidemiology, Gross National Happiness, etc, etc. There's something for every little nerve cluster in your head which is great because you come out of there all stimulated and wondering how it fits together. Despite the beer. It's fantastic.
The only thing that will be missing from previous Ignite Seattle events will be Bre Pettis and his Make Challenge which was always a lot of fun and got the popsicle stick gluers out of their basement caves for the evening. Bre, well, our Seattle Pride filter prevents us from saying that Bre graduated from Seattle to the Big Time, but he lives in New York now. No doubt he's lost on the subway somewhere and missing his nerd tribe in Seattle. Oh, and we can't make it either. Don't let that stop you. CHAC at 6:30 tonight, talks starting at 8:30.
