Soaping The Kinko's Fountain Is New Seattle Pastime

Fountain.jpgWe were driving down Broadway at noon and spotted huge puffballs of soapy bubbles blowing across the street from the fountain in front of the Kinko's. Saturday night, Seattle Metblogs reports, there was a whole "foam party." Plus, a nearby resident tells us the fountain was red foam this morning. That's three things, and three things is, scientifically speaking, a trend. But we also have back-up evidence gleaned from the internet: "Foam Parties are the newest craze among Teens and College Students!" Everyone, foam on.

Have you considered the possibility that THE FOUNTAIN IS RABID????

Actually, this shit's not funny. It flows into the drains along the streets and then out into the Sound where it kills fish--drowns 'em, the can't breathe. Remember my rant against Seattle douchebags? This is a case in point.

Also this is the second time they've hit that spot in the last five months.

Foam is sexy.

So is heroine.

Kids should switch to save the water though.

Oh, I wasn't being sarcastic... well, with the first bit I was, but honestly, I'd rather have people ODing on heroine than polluting the water and fish.

And if that's wrong, I don't want to be right.

"Foam Parties are the newest craze among Teens and College Students!"

haha
Are you guys fucking 100? Foam is nothing new.

Soaping the fountain at Kinkos is not killing any marine life. Being mindful of our ecology is absolutely encouraged and we're all thankful for anyone's vigilance in that regard. I just had to point out that getting upset at some pranksters putting bubbles in a local fountain is precisely why alot of otherwise great assets to the greening of our cities turn a blind eye to our cause.

Letting your babies and dogs play in said fountains is however an actual threat where bubbles are just a perceived threat that is pretty harmless.

...or maybe I just fed the trolls.

Soap suds and soil particles may seem penny ante as pollution sources go. But in the fast growing Puget Sound metropolitan area, small, "non-point" pollution sources add up and they all run downhill into the streams and bays where salmon are having a harder time making a living.

i've been tossing soap in fountains since elementary school. toss in some industrial strength stuff and a dash of RIT coloring and you've got a technicolor wizard of oz remake.

People, LIVING has a negative environmental impact. Lighten up.
