Ichiro Dispenses Hugs "For the Fans"

Editor Dan posted Monday about the "idiot" who ran on the field during Saturday's M's game and hugged Ichiro.

Ichiro was a lot less bothered by it, in fact, once he determined the guy wasn't packing, he decided to play along. So reports the Olympian:

At first I asked him, 'Have you been drinking?' " Suzuki said through an interpreter. "He said no, but all drunk people say 'I'm not drinking.' After that I checked to see if he had anything dangerous on him, just kind of glanced, and once I realize that he didn't, I started thinking, what would be the most fun thing for me to do for the fans."

"I really didn't want to hug him," Suzuki said. "But once he started hugging me, I felt that it would be more fun for the fans if I hugged him back, so I hugged him."

We wish that the girls we date had that sort of spirit. "It might be more fun for the passersby on the street if I hugged back," they might think, instead of shirking out of our desperate grasp and running for their cars.

Then again, it makes you wonder--obviously he's fine with giving out hugs, so exactly how far would Ichiro go for the sake of the fans?

Maybe it's time for a Morganna comeback?
