Weekend Music
This is a big weekend due to the EsuranceĀ® Capitol Hill Block Party alone. Tickets are not sold out yet; if nothing else, just by 'em at the door. But what to do if you want to avoid the Hill and the confluence of all those hipsters?
Tonight, there's Ryan Adams at the Moore. He's no longer the junkie hot mess he used to be, so this time around he probably won't go nutso if someone in the crowd makes a Bryan Adams reference.
Meanwhile, there's a free free free! Loveless Records showcase at the High Dive, featuring Carrie Akre, the Shakeltons, and the Blakes. Here's a good introduction to the Shakeltons, who will have their first album out on John Richards' label in October:
Grey's Anatomy faves The Fray play Marymoor Park tonight and tomorrow. If you can't make the show either night, you can always sing along with/scream at exclusive tour footage care of, yes, another insurance company.
Rufus Wainwright brings the gay (and the gays) to the Moore on Sunday. Here he takes on Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley with his own version of "Hallelujah":
