Not that we care anymore (So You Think You Can Dance has taken over our capacity of interest in reality TV at the moment--my God that Mia Michaels routine last night was incredible!), but all our American Idol crushes will be in Tacoma tonight strutting their stuff for the girlies. We can hardly contain our amusement that this tour is being sponsored by Pop Tarts. That's just brilliant.
So, who spent $75 on a ticket for this thing? We've seen some pretty phenomenal shows this year so far (Neko Case with Merle Haggard comes to mind, as does Patty Griffin, Brandi Carlile, Nickel Creek...) and none of them charged as much as Pop Tarts is charging to watch a bunch of somewhat talented pop vocatlists singing songs someone else made famous. Maybe if the tour only included Melinda, Blake, Gina and Jordin; but $75 (plus other fees, $25 for parking and an extra $2.50 for picking up your tickets = $194.85 for two tickets) to sit through Chris Sligh (bless his heart, seems like a nice enough chap) and Sanjaya just feels excessive. But if you don't mind paying that, tickets are still available. Remember this?
Jaded snobbery aside, we have to admit we were secretly hoping we'd somehow happen upon a pair of free tickets. But alas, c'est la vie. We'll have just as much fun sitting on our deck, overhearing the Capitol Hill Block Party (for free).
