Last week, Seattlest Kim wrote a post about New York City that pissed off New Yorkers. The angry comments to said post were oddly familiar because we got similar comments on a post about Seaside, Oregon that Seattlest Tom wrote in May.
You'd think that the large cultural gap between people living in the arts/media capitol of the United States and those living in the second-largest town in Clatsop County, Oregon, would prevent any striking similarities in reactions when they perceive their place of residence is dissed. Apparently not.
(Not that Seattle's immune, check out the comments on Seattlest Dan's anti-Dick's post.)
So we present a game--which of these comments came from miffed NYC-backers, and which came from teed-off Seaside adherents?
1) Could you please return and take all the Starbuck's Shops with you?
2) Next time you're looking to take a stab at a [city/town], pick somewhere else.
3) Maybe you should take your critical eye to REAL problems in the world like poverty, war, greed, hatred...
4) You owe [city/town name] an apology.
5) Truly unbelievable how very wrong you are.
6) This was nothing more than a slam.
7) please don't come back.
(answers below)
NYC: 1, 4, 5, 7.
Seaside: 2, 3, 6.

McGinn is Mayor

Hahahaha ! I'm humbled that my Starbucks comment was numero uno ! Since neither of us want Starcraps around anymore can we just bannish them to Korea?
Screw New York. I can't stand the city and I can barely stand the people. As far as I'm concerned, New Yorkers are all a bunch of brainwashed, narcissistic assholes who believe their city is not just the center of the world, but the center of the universe.
Seattle is better than New York, by far. You can actually breathe fresh air in downtown Seattle, which is far better than that piss smell in downtown New York. The scenery in Seattle is far better with both the mountains and the water and the evergreens. Skiing on real mountains is only a couple hours away. Hitting the beach is a couple hours away in the other direction. And people from Seattle treat each other with dignity and respect and kindness.
The people of New York City need to get out and look around every once and a while. There's a whole country outside the city limits, which offers more than New York ever could by itself.
The biggest is not necessarily the best.
Can we also ship this ass-munch to Korea as well? I could tear him a new one easly - but it's not worht the time.
Can we ship this Starbuck's manager to Korea as well? We all could tear that poster a new one easily - but I sincerly don't think it's worth either the time or effort !
But we're so much more polite in Seaside, don't you think? Sueso
