32 Hours and Counting Until We Get Our Harry On

Seattlest is obviously rather excited about the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows tomorrow night. So excited, in fact, that we thought we'd go to the Google to find out what sorts of happenings are going to, well, happen tomorrow in celebration of the big release.

We knew about an event at the University Bookstore and figured something similar would be going down at Elliot Bay Books and maybe one or two local Barnes and Nobles, but shit, were we wrong!

Here's an excerpt (and a smallish excerpt, at that) from the Seattle Times' list of parties, gatherings, games, trivia contests, et cetera, planned around the release of The Book Where Hagrid Dies (we're just guessing, we have no idea):

11 p.m. Friday, Santoro's Books, 7216 Greenwood Ave. N., Seattle. Reading of final chapter of "Half-Blood Prince," trivia contest, prizes and refreshments.

Midnight, Secret Garden Bookshop, 2214 N.W. Market St., Seattle. Acrobats and performers will entertain the line waiting outside the shop. After midnight, enjoy games, treats and activities.

Midnight, Bailey/Coy Books, 414 Broadway Ave E., Seattle. Refreshments and live entertainment.

9:30 p.m. Friday, Borders and Waldenbooks: The free Grand Hallows Ball will include decorations, a Potter spelling bee, the "Great Snape Debate," music and prizes. Costumes welcome. Local stores include Everett, Lynnwood, Seattle, Redmond, Bellevue and Federal Way.

6 p.m. Friday, University Book Store Seattle: release part with mock Diagon Alley, live music, Quidditch game, crafts and snacks. 4326 University Way N.E., Seattle.

6 p.m. Friday, University Book Store Bellevue: release party with mock Diagon Alley and activities. 990 102nd Ave. N.E., Bellevue.

6 p.m. Friday, University Book Store Mill Creek: release party with live music and Diagon Alley activities. Mill Creek Town Center, 15311 Main St., Mill Creek.

Apparently there was also a "Dumbledore Lives" protest at University Bookstore Seattle today at 1 PM. We're kicking off our Potter weekend festivities with a special "Spells and Wells" celebration at the Pacific Science Center tonight. We hear there's going to be a "Care of Magical Creatures" display with a live snake involved. All this before a 3-D showing of Goblet of Fire at the IMAX. Woot!

If you want to add a ferry ride, Eagle Harbor Books & the City of Bainbridge Island is putting on a release party that includes a outdoor screening of Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire.
