Seattlest Trivia Wrapup: Sorry We Crushed Your Head
"It's easy to hate you!" said one player last night at the Old Pequliar.
We're sure it was. Last night's quiz turned out to be unreasonably difficult, and we felt bad about it even as the nightmare was unfolding in front of our eyes.
Average score in round 1, Geography? 3.3 out of 10. Average score in round 2, A Fine Romance? Better! But only by half a point -- 3.85 out of 10. Ugh. None of our verbal question rounds had an average score better than 4.75, which we normally would consider a hard but acceptable round. Best round of the night? Man, did we fuck up.
Really, we're not interested in watching teams sweat and contort like sinners in the hands of an angry god. (In the hands of a really talented dominatrix, maybe, but then at least it's consensual.) It's easy to ask questions no one can answer, and therefore unsatisfying -- we find it much more fun to ask questions that might seem difficult, but can be puzzled out.
So though it seemed like, overall, people had fun, we promise next time we host (August 14) will be easier.
