What Does the New Al Qaeda Report Mean?

threat.jpgOur Southern California based Al Qaeda correspondent, Jeff Schell, is here with analysis on the new Intel report regarding Al Qaeda's desire to "use contacts and capabilities in Iraq to mount an attack on U.S. soil."

Every time the Mariners reach the American League Championship Series, a resurgent Al Qaeda shows up in the news. Coincidence?

1995 Mariners: ALCS. 1995 Al Qaeda: CIA began watching Osama Bin Laden.
2000 Mariners: ALCS. 2000 Al Qaeda: USS Cole Bombing
2001 Mariners: ALCS. 2001 Al Qaeda: 9-11

In 1997 there were attacks at the Egyptian archaeological site of Luxor, but it has been disputed whether the Egyptian group was truly tied to Al Qaeda. Which could explain why the Mariners only made it to the ALDS.

It makes one wonder what is the connection between Sweet Lou and Osama Bin Laden? After all in 1993 the Mariners hired Lou Piniella, the same year as the World Trade Center bombing.

All I'm saying is, when Al Qaeda is suddenly in the news as being resurgent, it bodes very well for our playoff hopes!

Maybe if the government would ever use that "Severe" threat level, the M's would finally reach the world series.

Thank god we have the only thing they fear...Ichiro.

So if I root for the Mariners, I'm rooting for a terrorist attack on the United States? Greeeaaat.
