King County Elections Imagines the Possibilities

tw01-15-01.gifDuncan M. McDonald the amazin' voting dog is finally off the King County voter roll.

However, it isn't necessarily the last time that the pooch, who generally votes Democrat but has a Conservative streak on social issues, will get to cast a ballot.

The county plans to approve all mail voting even though one of the machines that would be used has yet to be turned into a real thing. So next year anything may go.

The signature verification machines that the county is looking at are currently used in the banking world, but have yet been converted into something that could check millions of ballots. Not to worry say members of the council.

Councilmember Julia Patterson, told the Times," If they reassure us and tell us they can accomplish it, I think we have to trust that those professionals' judgment is good."

Great, because we're only trying to figure who will be in charge of the country.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened. In 1955 the county tried to save money by using a time machine to find out who would win upcoming elections. However Professor Hyckle VonKriston was unable to deliver and we were ruled by martial law deep into the 1970s.
